Advertising from an alternate universe in which certain people are not famous.

“Fake it until you make it” could be Jeff Koons’ motto. His Wall Street career as a commodities broker and job as a “senior rep” at MoMA define his origin.

With this training Koons has taken kitsch to the point of absurdity: giant balloon animals and life-size porcelains of him screwing his Italian pornstar wife. His celebration of corny is beyond banal and he makes Warhol - a consummate salesman - look like a door-to-door peddler.

In this universe - or any other - Koons is always a clown.
